Carlos Sanchez, of Middlebury, pleaded guilty this week to sexually abusing an inmate at FCI Danbury earlier this year, U.S. Attorney John Durham announced.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Sanchez was employed as a correctional officer at FCI Danbury. On two occasions in July and August, Sanchez engaged in sexual activity with a female inmate at the prison.
Sanchez, 33, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a ward. He remains released on a $50,000 bond and has resigned from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Sanchez will face up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced.
